DISCOVER THE HISTORY OF SAGUARO LAKE

 Saguaro Lake, nestled in the heart of the Tonto National Forest in Arizona, is a stunning reservoir with a rich history. Formed in 1930 after the construction of the Stewart Mountain Dam, it became one of the Salt River's most scenic recreational sites, named for the iconic saguaro cacti that dot the surrounding landscape.


The lake’s history is intertwined with the development of Arizona's water infrastructure, providing irrigation and power to the region. In its early years, Saguaro Lake served as a vital resource for farmers and settlers in the burgeoning desert communities.
